Start Menu forgets to keep itself in order
When you choose "Sort by Name" the Start menu
should remember where everything is. If this is not the case the
registry key has changed and is causing an issue. To fix this issue
place the start menu in order then go to Start > Run and type Regedit
and press return.
Browse to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer and
select the Menu Order key in the left hand panel. Choose Edit >
permissions and click on advanced. Here you can untick "inherit from
parent the permission entries" box. A pop up will appear click copy and
ok and return to the first screen.
Select your Username from the list and clear the
Allow tick box next to Full Control and click
apply. Repeat this for the administrator and
click OK and close the Registry editor. The
Start Menu should now stay in order.
