My Computer Takes A Long Time To Boot Up
This problem can be caused by two things.
1. Having too many programs load up when the computer turns on.
2. Not having enough resources such as RAM (see hardware guide)
To lower the number of programs that start up
Click Start >> Run
In the box that opens type "msconfig" and click "OK"
The utility that opens will have "Tabs" at the top. Click Start-up.
Here is a list of the programs that are start to run when you start Windows. It is unnecessary for all these programs to run.
To stop a program uncheck the box next to that program but leave SystemTray, ScanRegistry, LoadPowerProfile and Task Monitor otherwise the computer wont work. Leave any antivirus software that you are running so not to leave yourself open to virus attacks.
Click the "OK" button at the bottom. A dialogue box will open asking if you want to restart your computer. Click Yes and let the computer restart. You will notice that a lot fewer programs will open in the system tray. If you want these programs to load on start-up then repeat the process but check the boxes instead.
